Belgian director Kurt de Leijer studied Audiovisual Art at Sint Lukas high school and film at Sint Lukas Art Institute in Brussels. He eventually left school to begin work as a production assistant for Roses Are Blue and other Belgian film companies. After a couple of years in the industry he gained experience in nearly every role imaginable before settling in as director Raf Wathion’s assistant.
The pair made music videos for a number of Belgian artists including Ozark Henry, Novastar, and Hooverphonic. It was at this time that Kurt started to direct again, little by little picking up where he left off in his studies. Kurt’s work is notable for its warm human feeling and urban freshness. He has directed music videos for numerous artists including An Pierlé, Arid, Starflam and Baloji, and is currently hard at work on a feature length independent documentary.
