Directors Darius Marder and Alan Yang Ask An Important Question With Spots for McDonald’s and FIFA World Cup

The answer is always yes to “Wanna Go To McDonald’s?” in the restaurant’s largest global campaign to date, created for this year’s FIFA World Cup. The 3 spots of various lengths were part of over 1000 deliverables that were launched during the tournament in 75 markets worldwide and online. The spots were shot in four countries, cast in seven, and represent 29 different ethnicities and languages. The cast features everyday people as well as a star-studded cast of characters, including Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis, TikTok creator Khaby Lame, K-pop sensation ITZY, and top EA Sports™ FIFA Twitch streamer Edwin Castro all bonding over a shared love of Big Macs and McNuggets.

Working with agencies Wieden+Kennedy and Alama, Executive Producer Casey Wooden, and Producer Maggie Mclean, CAVIAR directors Darius Marder and Alan Yang captured the fun and excitement that comes with a trip to the fast food chain — whether your side won or lost. Having worked with this production team before, Darius says the experience of directing the spot was reliably great. “The process and result could only have been achieved with the sort of steadfast attention to detail and unwavering commitment to creative vision that they consistently demonstrate,” he says. “And they put up with my ceaseless dad jokes (the real mark of any good producer).”
