Keith Schofield Feature ‘Not Safe For Life’ Begins Shooting
Caviar is pleased to announce that principal photography has commenced on Not Safe for Life, the darkly comic thriller marking the feature directorial debut of acclaimed filmmaker Keith Schofield. Production began on March 18 in Bulgaria.
The film stars Gabriel LaBelle, whose breakout performance in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans established him as one of the most exciting emerging talents of his generation. In Not Safe for Life, LaBelle plays a man who becomes entangled in a dangerous online subculture, taking on a group of internet trolls in an attempt to defend the honor of a young woman who remains unaware of his existence.
Blending elements of black comedy with a cyberpunk edge, Not Safe for Life explores the darker corners of digital life with a bold and distinctive voice.
The project is produced by Michael Sagol for Caviar, alongside Jon Watts for Freshman Year and Michael M. McGuire. Executive producers include Allison Hironaka and Bert Hamelinck.
“Keith has crafted a story that carries a truly singular perspective, and we are proud to support him as he brings this project to life,” said Sagol.
Watts added, “Keith’s work has long stood out for its originality and energy, and I’m excited to be part of this next chapter as he steps into feature filmmaking.”
Schofield, whose work in music videos and commercials includes the award-winning Duck Sauce video Mesmerize (Music Video of the Year, UKMVAs 2021), has developed Not Safe for Life as a passion project.
