Baloji’s Augure: Infinite Trolling wins UKMVA for Best Special Project
Belgian-Congolese artist and director Baloji has picked up a UKMVA in the Best Special Visual Project for his film Augure: Infinite Trolling.
Captured on location in Congo, Augure: Infinite Trolling playfully explores the numbing effects of an unending stream of content, weaving together fragmented yet interconnected vignettes that oscillate between the surreal and the profound. Each narrative thread is accompanied by music from the soundtrack of Baloji’s debut feature film Augure, turning the viewing experience into an immersive celebration of sound and storytelling.
“As attention spans continue to shrink, I found it interesting to shorten the duration of our content, to see how we prioritize information based on its virality, its entertaining aspects. The injunction to like, to be outraged, to be for or against, to be in hysterical antagonism, the constant divide.” – Baloji
