William Kennedy is a London-based filmmaker and visual artist. He discovered his passion for storytelling at an early age, writing playscripts with other young writers at London’s Soho Theatre. While studying English Literature at UCL, he blew his student loan on a video camera and threw himself into making films.

Since graduating, William has pursued his creative vision through music videos. He has directed films for a variety of boundary-pushing artists, including Anna Calvi and Hercules & Love Affair. These creative relationships build on shared preoccupations with issues relating to mental health and the LGBTQI community. William also collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on an introspective series of visuals to accompany the release of his fourth album DAMN. and the ensuing global tour.

William’s art-making combines video, photography, music, painting, text, and collage. He recently exhibited a series of kaleidoscopic, deeply immersive films at the Copeland Gallery in London. His work has premiered online with NOWNESS, Hunger, Studio International and Boiler Room’s 4:3.

William has also directed a number of branded films and documentaries. Most recently he collaborated with Burberry on a poetic piece profiling China’s leading creative director and stylist Lucia Liu.
