SAMMI COHEN is a director and writer best known for their critically acclaimed Netflix film, You’re So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, starring Adam Sandler. It became the #1 film globally and in the US and was Sandler’s highest rated film of all time. Sammi is currently in development on their next feature with Sandler and Netflix.

Sammi’s breakout feature, Crush, produced by Maya Rudolph and Natasha Lyonne, premiered on Hulu in 2023 and was nominated for a GLAAD award that same year.

Sammi has also directed commercials for clients including California State (yes, the whole thing). Most recently, Sammi directed four national commercials for Milk-Bone. You can find them on TV (and in theaters) this fall.

Before directing, Sammi worked as an editor and VFX supervisor on national commercials and music videos for artists like Haim, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry. Sammi recently teamed up with Este Haim on “You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” with Este composing for the film. With a background in music and editing, there is rhythm to everything Sammi does. Especially when it comes to directing. Oh, and did we mention Sammi is a drummer?

Sammi has a passion for championing queer stories, female driven narratives and marginalized viewpoints that make audiences feel seen. Sammi loves to work with kids. Oh, and dogs. Dogs rule.
