Dawit N.M.

Dawit N.M. is a director and photographer born in Ethiopia and raised in the United States. His work spans a broad spectrum of stories, styles, and spaces. From capturing the portrait of a woman who survived abduction and forced servitude by guerrillas in El Salvador to orchestrating a dizzying camera spin inside the all-red interior of a 1991 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon for a Charlie Puth music video — Dawit’s range is undeniable.

His visual storytelling bridges worlds. Both his film and photographic works have been exhibited at The Chrysler Museum of Art, showcasing his capacity for timeless, gallery-worthy imagery. His short film for singer Mereba, The Jungle is the Only Way Out, earned him recognition as an Emerging Director Selectee at the American Black Film Festival, a prestigious nod to rising talent in the industry.

Dawit is currently at various stages of development on multiple long-form projects with his studio in Ethiopia, while also nurturing the next generation of storytellers in the region.
